Presiding Officer: How to Participate

If you have what it takes to be a Presiding Officer, now is your time! We are looking for Junior and/or Senior students in high school with experience in Student Congress. If this is something you are interested in please email Mrs. Charlotte Shealy at <> with the following information:

1. The number of Student Congress tournaments in which you have participated.

2. Whether or not you have read Roberts Rules of Order. If you have not read it, you must obtain a copy of it and read it before the tournament. There is a version that is titled "in brief" which works fine.

3. Your name, age, and grade.

4. Write one paragraph about why you want to preside.

The deadline to apply is Monday, March 14th at midnight. The CCT Board will choose the Presiding Officers. In order to take away any personal bias in the selecting process, all applications will be examined with names being removed. We will let you know who has been chosen by March 18th.

The number of officers chosen will correspond to the number of houses running during the preliminary rounds. We will also choose one alternate in the case someone has to drop out.

If you apply to be a Presiding Officer but are not chosen, we encourage you to compete in the tournament as a senator.
